Discover invaluable tips on caring for your jewelry!
Wearing
A few small habits when you put your jewelry on (and take it off) make the biggest difference to how long it lasts.
- Put it on last, take it off first. Apply your skincare, perfume and hair products before putting on your jewelry.
- Wear it often. Your jewelry is made to be enjoyed, and regular wear can even help minimise tarnishing.
- Keep it dry. Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming or exercising to protect its finish.
- Avoid harsh chemicals. Household cleaners, chlorine and beauty products can dull its shine. If contact occurs, rinse with water and dry thoroughly.
- Store it away from heat and humidity. Extreme temperatures and prolonged moisture can affect both the metal and gemstones.
Storing
How you put your jewelry away matters as much as how you wear it — the goal is tangle-free, scratch-free and dry.
- STORE SEPARATELY
Keep pieces apart in your Mondays Made pouches, zip-lock bags or soft-lined boxes so they don’t tangle, rub or scratch one another.
- FASTEN YOUR CHAINS
Clasp necklaces and chains closed before storing to keep them from knotting.
- COOL, DARK, & DRY
Store away from sunlight, moisture and extreme temperatures. In humid climates, tuck a small desiccant packet into the pouch or box to prevent tarnishing.
Caring for specific materials
- PEARLS
Always store individually — pearls are soft and easily scratched by gemstones or metal hardware.
- OPALS
Very sensitive to moisture, so store in an air-tight container or sealed bag. If an opal loses its glow, rest it in a covered container with desiccant packets for 1–2 days to revive it.
Cleaning
With endless cleaning hacks online it’s easy to feel overwhelmed — but the safest, most effective methods are usually the simplest ones.
- LUKEWARM WATER & MILD SOAP
Add a drop of gentle, fragrance-free dish soap to lukewarm water and let the piece soak briefly.
- A SOFT, GENTLE BRUSH
Loosen dirt with a soft baby toothbrush, working gently around settings and chain links.
- RINSE & PAT DRY
Rinse in clean water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Let it air-dry fully before storing.
- POLISH LIGHTLY
Restore shine on gold vermeil with a soft jewelry cloth — light strokes only, to protect the gold layer.
- PEARLS & OPALS, WIPE ONLY
Skip soaking. Wipe these with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
- AVOID HARSH CLEANERS
No ultrasonic cleaners, abrasive polishing cloths, toothpaste or chemical dips — they can strip vermeil and damage soft stones.
