With countless cleaning methods available on the internet, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.
Here’s a comforting thought - the safest and most effective ways to keep your jewelry sparkling are often the simplest ones!
18k Gold Vermeil & S925 Rhodium Vermeil
DOs - Routine Care
Clean your jewelry once or twice a month to keep them looking their best. Use our Mondays Made polishing cloth to gently wipe the pieces in one direction (avoid circular motions!) to remove dirt, dust, oil, and tarnish. Avoid excessive polishing to prevent eroding the vermeil plating.
Always use a clean cloth to avoid trapping lint in settings and prongs. Occasional cleaning is especially important if your jewelry has been unworn for extended periods to prevent oxidization.
DON’Ts - Routine Care
Refrain from using tissue paper, paper towels or rough fabrics for cleaning as this can cause scratches.
Avoid using jewelry polishing cloths or silver cloths as they often contain polishing agents and chemicals that can prematurely wear down the gold vermeil coating.
DOs - Deep Cleaning
Give your gold vermeil jewelry a thorough cleaning with the following steps:
- Prepare a lukewarm bowl of water and add 2 to 3 drops of gentle dish soap.
- Wet a soft, lint-free cloth with the soapy water and gently rub your jewelry, paying attention to hard-to-reach areas. Take extra care when cleaning around the prongs.
- After cleaning, rinse your jewelry in clean water to remove any soap residue.
- Gently pat dry with a lint-free cloth or leave on a cloth to air dry.
DON'Ts - Deep Cleaning
Avoid using a toothbrush, rubbing alcohol or toothpaste as they can be overly abrasive and potentially strip away the gold plating from the metal.
Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner on gold vermeil jewelry as ultrasonic waves may disrupt the integrity of the gold plating.
Natural Gemstones, Moissanites & Cubic Zirconias
DOs
Though our natural gemstones are of high quality, all natural gems are delicate and should be handled with care.
After wearing, gently rub each gemstone with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. Regular cleaning every few weeks is recommended to prevent the accumulation of stains and oil residue.
Make sure to thoroughly dry gemstones with a lint-free cloth to prevent discoloration. Blow gently or dab with a cloth to remove moisture.
Note that certain gemstones such as Opals, Emeralds, Turquoise, Malachite, and Lapis Lazuli are more delicate and porous. Clean them only with a soft, dry cloth.
DON’Ts
Avoid using tissue paper, paper towels or coarse fabrics for cleaning as these can cause scratches.
Do not use a hairdryer to remove moisture, as heat can damage the stones.
Avoid using hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners on gemstones. Excessive exposure to sweat, sunlight, sea water, or other chemicals may cause discoloration.
Do not use ultrasonic cleaner on gemstone jewelry as ultrasonic waves can damage the gemstones.
Pearls
DOs
Pearls benefit from absorbing natural oils that your skin secretes throughout the day. Wear them often to maintain their luster and prevent them from drying out.
Gently wipe pearls with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove sweat, perfume, excess oils or dirt.
For visible stains, mix a solution of lukewarm water and dish soap, dip a soft lint-free cloth into it and gently wipe the pearls.
Ensure pearls are completely dry before storage.

DON’Ts
Do not use any polishing cloths, harsh chemicals or cleaners on pearls.
Pearls should not be stored in overly dry environments, as this can cause them to crack. Instead of using airtight packages like ziplock bags, consider using a soft pouch or jewelry box instead.
Do not submerge pearls in water.
Avoid hanging pearl bracelets or necklaces on hooks during storage as this may cause the chain to stretch.
