Authentic, cultured freshwater pearls are sourced from China and lovingly handpicked for our pearl jewelry. Pearls are naturally colored in pastel shades such as white, pink, peach, and lavender. Each pearl varies in shape, size, and luster, contributing to the unique charm of each jewelry piece.
Akoya Pearls
Akoya pearls are the epitome of elegance and luxury in the world of pearl jewelry. Originating from the Akoya oyster which is primarily found in the saltwaters of Japan, these pearls are renowned for their highly reflective luster and perfect roundness.
Each Akoya pearl at Mondays Made is carefully hand-selected to ensure the highest quality and beauty.

Mother of Pearl
Mother of Pearl (MOP) refers to the smooth and iridescent inside lining of mollusk shell. MOP comes naturally in multiple colour variations, including white, pink, gray, silver and red.
Known for being lightweight yet durable, MOP symbolizes harmony and protection. Every MOP piece is unique, showcasing the beauty of nature’s oceanic gems.
When making your MOP jewelry, we first select and match MOP pieces based on their patterns and hues. Our skilled artisans then shape and carve them into intricate designs using advanced laser cutting techniques.

FUN FACT!
MOP and pearls both come from the same material - nacre (pronounced NAY-kur). MOP is formed as nacre is deposited onto the inner surface of mollusk shell, while pearls are made with layers of nacre wrapped around a foreign object. According to popular belief, the term "Mother of Pearl" comes from the idea that pearls are like babies “born” inside the nacre-lined mollusk "belly".
